Organizer says Oregon is poised to become national leader for renewable wave energy
Wednesday, September 24, 2008
The third annual Ocean Renewable Energy Conference begins Thursday afternoon in Coos Bay. "We're expecting government representatives, fishing industry reps, and a large turnout from coastal communities." says Stephanie Thornton with the Oregon Wave Energy Trust.

A test near Newport with a buoy this year did not go well.
"In this very early stage, it's very challenging and a lot of things being tested simply didn't work. " says Thornton but she believes with more research money and less regulation Oregon could become the national leader for renewable wave energy.
